"Prophet, Part One: Cry for Atonement" A jeep with four of McGog's men scour the desert for any trace of the Faux-Azrael. Their orders were to detain the imposter and bring him back to the base. The intense heat from the Saudi Arabian desert had almost drained the imposter's energy. The soldiers catch up to the imposter and order him to come quietly. The imposter tears through each of McGog's men and from the distance Jeremiah Thompkins observes the imposter's fighting skills. Jeremiah believes the imposter's presence is a sign of his salvation. The imposter blacks out after exhausting himself and Jeremiah brings the imposter to his secluded hut. Jeremiah tends to the imposter's injuries and Jeremiah is astounded by the imposter's remarkable constitution after he had suffered dehydration. Jeremiah asks about the imposter's Azrael costume like what it represents. Jeremiah speculates that the imposter is an agent of good and he has come to the desert to fight evil. Jeremiah asks the imposter to assist him in punishing the reprehensible buyers who want to purchase Jeremiah's stolen medical supplies. The imposter nods that he will help Jeremiah. Jean-Paul Valley calls Leslie Thompkins and Brian at the clinic. Jean-Paul expresses his regret for not being able to help the Faux-Azrael because Jean-Paul knows all too well the trauma that the imposter went through. Leslie inquires if Jean-Paul had come across her brother Jeremiah who is also a doctor and a missionary in Saudi Arabia. Jeremiah had gone to the Middle East last October but she hasn't heard from him since. Leslie asks Jean-Paul if he would be willing to do some detective work and find her brother. Jean-Paul tells Leslie that he is honored to assist her. Jean-Paul then asks Bruce Wayne for any advice on how to get the answers he needs. Jean-Paul heads back to McGog's camp and asks for his assistance in locating Jeremiah. Jean-Paul asks McGog to exercise his respect for him since McGog applauded Jean-Paul as a warrior. Jean-Paul figures that McGog must keep himself constantly well informed on what goes on in his sector and McGog expresses that he is willing to listen. Jean-Paul asks McGog if he has heard of a Dr. Jeremiah Thompkins. McGog says that the name doesn't sound familiar however, he has heard rumors of a doctor who lives about 90 kilometers south of the camp. The doctor is suspected of trafficking stolen medical supplies. Jean-Paul is surprised that McGog has ordered a raid of the doctor's base. McGog proclaims that he isn't a thief but he did write off the doctor's efforts as the acts of a bleeding heart. McGog offers a jeep and one of his men to drive Jean-Paul to the doctor's supposed base. McGog also tells Jean-Paul that some of his men had another run in with the Faux-Azrael back in the desert. McGog's men said that someone must have helped the imposter because when the soldiers came to, they discovered that their jeep had been stolen and the tire tracks were pointing south. McGog suspects that Jean-Paul's doctor may have the imposter in his care. Officer Werley drives Jean-Paul near the the doctor's supposed base but Werley drives over a land mine. The land mine explodes, the jeep flips and both men fall unconscious onto the desert sand.

"Step into the Light" There is a new assassin in Gotham City that kills his victims by slitting their throats with sharp blades attached to tap-dance shoes. Azrael kept looking for Scratch, the Joker and Calibax but there was no sign of them. He found an old man lying on the street and took him over the remainings of a building where a man and his daughter were sheltering. The old man was the man's father and the girl's grandfather but he was taken out because the food supplies were not enough to feed the three of them. Azrael gave them his last rations and promised them that he would return with fresh food and he set out to Oracle's place but on his way there, he found a young boy drowning in the Gotham river and saved his live. Azrael was leading the boy to the man and his daughter's place when they were attacked by a street gang. Azrael took all of them out and then he was betrayed by the young boy. Azrael was leaving him but the boy apologized and offered him some food supplies. They were carrying the food to the man's place when they found the old man again on the street but this time he was dead because the Death Dancer killed him in the same macabre way. The boy told Azrael that it was the third victim that was killed in the same way. Azrael went to the man's place furious because he let his own father die, but upon reaching the place, he witnessed that the little girl was felling sick and his wrath calmed down. Saddened by the events, Azrael told the boy to share his food with the man and his daughter while he moved out of there again towards Oracle. The Death Dancer struck again and killed a sick woman under her own son's request. The killer belived that he was doing people a favor by killing them instead of prolonging what he perceived as suffering and misery. Azrael arrived at Oracle's place and entered using the information Batman provided him. Oracle was shocked to see that an intruder managed to break into her tower without triggering the alarms but soon she deduced that the man must be Azrael. After they introduced each other formally, Azrael asked Oracle for food and she provided him with the best meal he has had in three days: canned beans. Later, both of them decided to go outside to the streets and talk a little bit to know each other better. Azrael asked Oracle if she knew the Joker, Scratch or Calibax's whereabouts and she told him that there was no word from Scratch or Calibax and that the Joker didn't posed a threat at the time. Before Azrael could ask again about "business", Oracle asked him if he hadn't noticed that in most of their past conversations she had been flirting with him. Azrael was shocked to learn that truth and told Oracle that he had no idea and that he imagined that she was just being sisterly to him. Oracle was worried that he might think she wanted something serious with him but Azrael told her that he didn't mind if she was with someone else. They agreed that from that point on they would be like brother and sister to each other. Oracle was overwhelmed with a feeling of happiness unfelt since the beginning of No Man's Land and she dropped a couple of tears of joy. The Death Dancer was nearby and witnessed the scene and he decided that a young woman, crippled in a wheelchair and crying, must be put out of her misery.

"Jellybean Deathtrap" The Joker is upset because he can't cause chaos in a place where chaos is the rule and to make it all worse he feels abandoned and forgotten by Batman and so he decides to start doing something in order to get the Dark Knight's attention. Meanwhile; Azrael starts looking for Calibax's body and finds out that the mutant might have survived the fall. Batman finds Azrael and tells him that he is going to take down The Joker. Azrael tries to explain Batman that Scratch and Calibax were roaming free and Batman replied that Joker is a greater threat than those two. Batman encourages Azrael to find the clown and stop him, but Azrael is not completely sure if he is up to the job. At that moment the Joker visits an orphanage and offers the kids some jelly beans. Somehow the kids were part of Joker's evil plan. Azrael walks the streets of Gotham City and he feels bad for all the people left behind in the city. Suddenly a woman calls him "Batman" and gives him a message from the Joker that he would be waiting him at Forest Park. Azrael thanked the woman, and moved out to find the Joker. The Joker was waiting impatiently at the park where he and one henchman had trapped one little kid in a deathtrap devised by Joker himself. The kid was in the glass cage meant to kill Batman by throwing blades, shooting bullets, spraying acid and firing lasers. Joker was glad to hear a voice telling him to release the child as he believed it was Batman. When Azrael stepped out of the shadows Joker was indignated by his presence and not Batman's. Joker threatened to pull the trigger that would kill the kid and Azrael had to surrender. Joker told his henchmen to place Azrael inside a sewer pipe that was being used to build something before the city was abandoned and Azrael had no choice but to place himself inside the pipe. Joker's henchman sealed the pipe and threw it to the river nearby but Azrael managed to get out of the pipe to the surface. Once again Azrael took Joker's henchman down and then it was the Joker's turn but the kid asked for help and for a second Azrael hesitated but in the end he decided to set the child free. It took him four hours to disable Joker's trap and in the meantime, Joker has escaped. Back in the city, Azrael apoligized for failing Batman, but the latter told him that he didn't fail because he saved a kid's life and that was good enough for Batman. Azrael was left speechless and he walked out to the forgotten city.

"Devil Down Below" A girl named Mitzi is trapped in the upper floor of a collapsed building and Calibax is waiting for her on the lower floor. At that moment, Nicholas Scratch convinces a couple of Marshals to take him to Gotham City in order to deliver a message. The marshals are hypnotized by Scratch and agree to take him as soon as they ready the boat. Azrael was watching Scratch from afar when a woman approached him and asked him to take her to Gotham to look for her daughter and Azrael reluctantly agreed. Mitzi wasn't sure if Calibax was still down there and a the man with whom she had spent the days in Gotham started to complain about her attitude and mistreating her. Azrael caused a distraction by pushing a burning truck to the marshals' shore office. The distraction was used by Azrael to get into the boat with the woman whose name was Jasper Fredang. Nicholas Scratch approached the marshals and demanded to be taken to Gotham. One of the marshals obeyed and took Scratch to the Gotham shore. Mitzi and the man, named Benny, were starting to starve and Benny decided to go down looking for some food as he believed that Calibax was gone. Mitzi tried to make him stay but Benny was meaner towards her and went down anyway. When he stepped down, Calibax appeared from the shadows and killed Benny, leaving Mitzi alone and desperate. When the boat reached the far shore, Scratch and the marshal stepped down and suddenly three thugs tried to attack them. Scratch tried to use his hypnotic powers on them but the marshal fired his weapon and broke the spell. Azrael was attracted by the gunfire and he dealt of the three men but in the meantime, Scratch seized the opportinuty to run away. When the way was clear, Azrael told Mrs. Fredang to step out and they started looking for her daughter. Calibax found a way to the upper floor and he threatened Mitzi's life as she screamed for help. Azrael and Mrs. Fredang listened the scream and Azrael climbed to the top of the building to rescue her. Azrael and Calibax fought for a while but Azrael was tired from the previous fight and with his last effort he managed to knock Calibax off the building, apparently killing him. Ms. Fredang arrived at the scene and when she saw Mitzi she reproached her all the suffering she caused her during this time and from her pocket took out a gun and fired to Mitzi, but missed the shot. Mitzi told her that she missed it but Mrs. Fredang told her that it didn't matter, that she just had to get it out of her system and then the two of them hugged each other. Azrael was glad to see a happy ending in No Man's Land.

"Gotham City Must Die!" Nicholas Scratch is ready to appear on national TV with an important message to the country about the future of Gotham City but before doing that, he talks to some congress men who were involved in the Gotham case and he bribed them to vote against the reconstruction of the city when the time came. Jean-Paul asked Oracle for some information about a congress man who was also directly involved in the Gotham case. Oracle gave him the info reluctanctly, as Jean-Paul was officially not part of the bat-family anymore. Nicholas Scratch started his broadcast and talked about how Gotham is en evil city at its core and that the country would put all the money to waste if they decided to rebuild it. Meanwhile, Jean-Paul arrived at the place of the congress man he was lookign for, but he found that it was heavily guarded by US Marines and he decided to break into the place using his Azrael suit. Azrael took some of the Marines down and when he reached the congress man's house, he told the people inside to get out of the place because he believed that there were explosives somewhere in the house. The people didn't believe Azrael and he decided to take a table and threw it outside through a window before it exploded. Azrael saved the congress man's life and Azrael asked him in return to try to save Gotham city from dying. At that moment, Nicholas Scratch finished his broadcast and it looked like he convinced all of the people who were listening to him that Gotham must die, all of them except for the heroes in Gotham. A couple of days later, Batman visited Jean-Paul and asked him why did he disobeyed his orders. Jean-Paul explained that he overheard Scratch's plans and so he decided to act. Batman asked him how did he knew that the explosives were in the table and Jean-Paul explained that he did't knew it but that the table was the only thing that seemed to be out of place. Jean-Paul was expecting Batman to be mad at him for his actions but instead, Batman told him that the congress man he saved, voted for Gotham's reconstruction and that despite that he was outvoted, Batman was proud of what Jean-Paul did for his city. Batman told Jean-Paul that they could still work together and with a handshake, Jean-Paul was once again part of the bat-family.
