Description
Created and written by Screenwriter and Director Steven Knight, the TV series Peaky Blinders tells the story of a criminal gang created by a Romani Irish catholic family in 1919, after the end of the First World War in the city of Birmingham, England. A strong member of the Peaky Blinders, England’s most powerful gang, and one of the most powerful gangs in the world, Arthur Shelby is the older brother of Thomas Shelby (the leader of the organization). They started as an illegal betting operation and branched out into the contraband of opium and Scotch malt whiskey, using legitimate businesses established as Shelby Company Limited to cover their criminal activities, with Arthur in the role of the company’s Deputy Vice President. Loyal to his family, Arthur has a strong temper, and for that reason, is capable of brutal acts, but he also carries some remorse for his actions. Arthur feels that he should be the head of the family business, but never had the necessary authority for that, Thomas slowly took over the leadership, and Arthur acts as his right hand. Arthur and Thomas fought together in World War I, digging treacherous tunnels to put explosives under the enemies’ positions, and that also strengthened the sense of trust between the two brothers.
